Rules in force · announced 29 October 2026
On 29 October 2026, the Immigration Service confirmed that the extension rules under the Ukraine Special Act are in force. Permits may be extended until 17 March 2028 if the conditions remain satisfied. The Service assesses existing cases automatically: no extension application or new biometrics are required. A new residence card is posted after an extension is granted. Most cases are expected to be completed before 17 March 2027. Anyone whose extension case remains pending then may stay with their existing rights until it is decided. The Service normally communicates through Digital Post.
What this means for your case
An extension depends on continued eligibility. The Service will contact you if information is missing, so check Digital Post.
