Certain Danish citizenship cases may be reopened

People previously told that they are not and have never been Danish citizens may request reopening of their case. Following two Supreme Court judgments, the Ministry must also consider legitimate expectations and, where relevant, EU law. The request should explain why the person reasonably believed they were Danish and how they organised their life on that basis.

What this means for your case

The announcement concerns decisions that a person has never been Danish. It does not automatically cover every citizenship refusal.
